That was my original thought.  It may even be true :-)

I've just discovered a major bug.  c.treeSelectHelper was redrawing
the screen far too often.  It was causing a full redraw on collapse!

This is very good news.  It means there is a good chance that a
simpler, better way can be found to do what seems natural.

The new code is on the trunk at rev 1515.  The new code noticeably
reduces flash.

All unit tests pass, but this is a major change.

I'll attempt, one more time, to do reduce scrolling.  Yesterday's
"conclusions" mean nothing now...
