The 46-maint branch now contains the result of a straight merge of the
trunk into the branch. Imo, this was the only safe way to go.  Indeed,
the trunk fixes several caching bugs that would have made any other
kind of merges iffy.  Besides, the 46-maint branch now has the
benefits of all recent changes.

This strategy was apparently quite successful.  The merge went exactly
as expected, and loading and saving leoPy.leo caused no further
changes to the code.

All unit tests pass.

g.unified_nodes is False in the branch, and will always remain False.
But you could say that the one-node code is latent in this branch.
This can not be helped--doing a manual merge would have been asking
for time bomb bugs.

The installer work will be done in the trunk, and merged into the 46-
maint branch later.
