LOL -- Edward isn't "veering" -- he's asserted his identity here all the time and your note is the thing that's bizarre. One can't create an environment of one's own with whatever one wants to talk about in it? He should do exactly what he pleases, and it's a personal blog if that's what he wants it to be. He'll take full responsibility, I'm sure, for any fallout he might trigger among those who might want to keep politics in general or particular out.
