I know that leo has a vim mode (which I don't use). Did you consider the opposite - making vim to act as another leo GUI? That would be fantastic for many reasons:
- hooking leo and vim better - enhancing vim by exposing the power of leo API through its python interface - bringing leo to non-X linux installations I've recently bumped into http://vim-voom.webs.com/ I've added an item to my TODO about studying this project and what it can offer (don't know when it'll exactly happen).
