In my opinion the File menu could be given the same treatment as the
Chapter 4 rewrite and @rst simplification. You yourself said "I seldom
use any of these [open] commands!", which was echoed by at least one
other. Which begs the question: why are these seldom used commands in
a prominent location then?

Anyway aside from de-emphasising seldom use commands my one wish item
for File menu, is "Open file and make it @thin".
