It may appear to some that I have been "all over the place" recently.
However, the unifying theme is making life easier for newbies. In
particular, we want a better installer, and we want better tutorials.
This will be the theme of the rest of the 4.8 release cycle.

Imo, the best model for tutorials is Leo's existing Screenbook
tutorials.

Joe Orr's work is splendid in all respects. It is Leonine: it looks
and works much like Leo does. The layout pane allows for unlimited
numbers of tutorial subjects. The design of the "body pane" always
makes clear to the reader what the context of the present tutorial
page is. A single .css files controls all visual aspects of the
tutorial.

So the goal is clear: create a suite of tutorials that can be merged
into something looks (as much as possible) *exactly* like Leo's
present Screenbook tutorial. Of course, the contents will be
different, especially the actual look of the screen shots.

Thus, the only remaining question is how to do this in the simplest,
easiest way. If possible, we would like to use existing web
standards, and we would like to create a framework that is generally
useful for other tasks. Indeed, using Leo outlines to create
Screenbook-like (or s5-like) slide shows might be an extremely popular
application of Leo.

Today's work has just begun the project. I'll be looking for quick
prototypes soon.

To repeat what I said in another threads: there is no need to
"discover" complete solutions. We are free to look for bits and
pieces that do *parts* of the overall task. If you know of a tool
that would help in some way, no matter how small, it would be great if
you told us about it. Who knows, something that looks minor at first
may turn out to be a crucial piece of the puzzle.

All comments welcome.
