That might be preferable to the way things work at present, which is
that the abbreviations get done immediately.  That can be a bit
off-putting.

I don't know :-)  Let me look into it.

You should know that all the original emacs-like commands were written
by LeoUser in a huge burst of activity about 5 years ago. I have spent
years polishing the original code, but this code in particular is
still only a prototype.  So all suggestions are welcome.
