I think discussing here is ok. Eventually a bug is acknowledged and a bug report is added to LP. Sometimes things that go wrong are related to already existing LP bugs. Having a preliminary talk here adds a bit of redundancy but keeps the LP bug reports laconic and purely technical. Eventually, a group thread and a LP bug report are crosslinked to make it easier to remember the context. Disclaimer: this is purely my point of view.
