I am not able to recreate this problem on Windows 7. Interestingly,
double-clicking the .leo file results in a Windows error, but loading
the file from within Leo works fine, and dragging works as expected.
I get a similar Windows error trying to open the .leo file from the
usually-reliable Scite editor, but jEdit opens the file without
incident.

I'll check on Ubuntu soon.

What platform are you using?
