The go-related concept of being "light" has greatly improved Leo.
Thanks to the usual suspects, I now use Leo exactly as I previously
used the lightweight editor SciTe. This is a fundamental change in my
point of view. Indeed, I just changed the script that opens a file in
a "flat" editor so that it opens files in Leo instead. The next step
will be to assign Leo as the designated editor for Blender, IPython,
etc.

The go-related concept of being "thin" is something we want to avoid
in Leo :-) Being thin (usually) denotes being fragile, at the mercy
of one's opponent. In games between professional players, once a
player becomes thin, the game is out of his (or her) control. The
opposite of "thin" is "thick". Being thick is always good.

For Leo, the concept of "thin" means (to me) that Leo is not quite
polished, complete or professional. This morning I realized that this
concept might be as important to Leo as the concept of being light.

The reason is simply that that *newbies* will be most likely to think
of Leo as thin, though of course they won't use that term! We who use
Leo understand that Leo is "thick", that it is useful, well-designed,
and fundamentally reliable.

Alas, newbies are likely to make snap judgments. Those judgments
might be "erroneous", but that doesn't lessen their impact!

So it is up to us, and especially me, to avoid anything that would
make newbies come to the wrong conclusions about Leo. This includes:

- Keeping screen shots up to date and as "wow" as possible.

- Avoiding installation problems.

- Avoiding problems with Leo's web site. In particular, I am going to
fix the search box today :-)

- Making Leo's documentation as good, "light" and clear as possible.

etc.

Your comments please. Anything that might look thin to a newbie?

Edward

P.S. The distinctions light/heavy and thick/thin, as applied to Leo,
are, by far, the most useful results of way-too-many years playing
go ;-)
