It's hard to see as shown above, but the differences are as follows. Original::
<table ...>\t <tr valign="top">\t(rest of line)
Imported::
<table ...>\\\\-4<tr valign="top">\t(rest of line)
Somehow the second line uses Leo's strange \\\\-4 convention for
representing underindented lines. This must be a bug: the convention
is only for the start of lines.
