A filesystem manager could be written using Leo as an interface, but I

Oh boy, now there's expectation :p

I've been thinking though - at least initially, LeOS could get by with a generic QX11Embed plugin. LeOS would have a linux base and Leo would be running in X Windows, so it would be fairly trivial to code a plugin to embed an XWindows app in Leo - though it would be Linux/BSD/*nix exclusive. But that's off topic.

Qt Tree widgets can display multiple columns of data, Ville was
suggesting that be leveraged for tag handling. You'd probably also
want that for a file browser, to show file size, date, etc. in
additional columns. Makes me wonder what else could be done with a
multicolumn tree... selective display/editing of node attributes (in
v.u) etc.?
An "Extended Tree" plugin could allow for user-defined columns, even - controlled by Leo scripts! Each outline could have a document- (and therefore context-) specific tree setup. Maybe.
