I am now significantly more bold in my programming now that we all use git.

For example, after the committing 7151b2d, I found a way to compare the
old and new code without using diff.

Here is the checkin log for rev f0bdaad:

"Why I love git: put all of the old version of leoTree.select into the
attic by checking out the old code,
copying it to an untracked .leo file, checking out the latest version and
finally pasting."

This put my mind at ease about whether code had been properly copied from
selectHelper to change_current_position. If problems are ever found with
the refactoring, I can now easily compare the unused old code in the attic
with the new code.
