Happily, Terry and I agree that some esoteric worries happen so rarely that 
they can be ignored.  This is a big collapse in conceptual complexity.

Only minor changes relating to gnx's are planed. They must still be 
thoroughly tested, but I expect that this can be done in a day or two max.

Guesstimate: a1 will go out the door about Monday, October 27.  This 
release will not be widely advertized: its primary purpose is to test the 
release process itself.
