All the discussions and bug reports about installation issues are most
welcome. Leo has needed close attention to such matters for years.

The modified plan is:

1. Don't announce b1 widely.

2. Resolve the installation issues asap, resulting in a b2 release.

Announce b2 widely if all problems fixed, otherwise create a b3 release.

3. Release 5.0 final just a few days after all installation issues are
fixed.

I'll be working an three or four unrelated bugs in the meantime, so 5.0
final still has a good chance of going out the door in a week.
