> > Why on earth should Leo put notepad in the Open With menu?
In the tradition of 5 whys <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5_Whys>: - because finding and/or defining the user's preferred text editor is a pain, especially for a newbie, and dumb noteapad is guaranteed present on Windows. - because solving Windows' braindead notepad problem is out of scope (and hard, many have tried, no one but MS can fix and they choose not to) but why any Edit With at all? (a) because when focusing on details it's easy to miss the forest. Leo doesn't have a show-me-whole-file method that is as quick and easy as "open with text editor" (easy after said editor has been configured anyway). Why is that missing? - it's hard to code(?) - no one (with skills to do something) is sufficiently itchy(?) - no one has presented sufficiently attractive/usable interface model to code towards(?), e.g. how to fit into current framework harmoniously - because Open With exists! (and it works well enough for those that care) (b) because people need a convenient method see the file as non-Leonista's do. +++ ...ran out of steam and time before could get to the end, :) but the path is interesting. To me anyway. -matt -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "leo-editor" group.
