I really don't know how it works on mac...

All the magic comes from Qgtkstyle 
<https://qt-project.org/doc/qt-4.7/qgtkstyle.html> which use gtk themes to 
render Qt apps.

A more cross platform way would be to transcribe this gtk theme to a qt 
style sheet, but that's more work to be done.
