A crash the python 3 version of my sitecustomize.py may have been the culprit. Things started to get less crazy after that was fixed. With Google as my guide, I learned about Ubuntu networking in the process ;-) editing /etc/network/interfaces on this advice <https://www.swiftstack.com/docs/install/configure_networking.html>. Once networking worked again I could install ubuntu-unity-desktop. There were other steps along they way, including adventures with ~/.Xauthority. *Conclusion* Make sure python doesn't crash!! Don't bother recommending linux to a normal human being. Edward -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "leo-editor" group.
