The recent burst of progress on jupytext/Jupyter Notebooks reminded me that I've posted about VR3's note book capabilities several times but never offered more than a screenshot. So here is a (very) small example notebook. I've been using it for testing VR3. You can use it to see what VR3 offers along these lines. It's not up to Jupyter Notebook capabilities, but it's much lighter-weight, has a lower learning curve, and comes built into Leo.
Extract the Leo outline from the attached zip file and save it somewhere. Load it into Leo and select the top node. Open VR3 (use the *vr3-show* or *vr3-toggle* command). Open the *View Options* menu in the upper right and select the first item: *Entire Tree*. The entire notebook tree will be rendered in the VR3 pane. For now, also select the *Lock To Tree Root* item. This will keep the entire tree in view even if you select one of the child nodes. Read the text, execute the code using the *Execute* button and generally have fun exploring the notebook. VR3 has one annoyance when the view is reloaded after a change. The scroll position jumps back to the top each time. For now you can deal with this by selecting the *View Options/ Freeze* menu item. This prevents VR3 from reacting to changes. The *Other Actions/Reload* menu item will reload the notebook with any changes you have made. I am working on methods for preventing the jump back to the top. The code works, but as usual there are a few wrinkles that I am trying to iron out. I should be filing a PR soon so stay tuned. Please give the outline a try and let me know what you think. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "leo-editor" group.
