I can shave off another few bytes by optimizing the stud. Instead of splitting
the top circle into 16 triangles like a cake, the 16-sided polygon can be drawn
with just using one triangle and seven quadrilaterals, thus cutting the amount
of needed primitives to draw the top circle by half. I wonder why this is not
done for LDraw.
I have been told that most renderers split quads anyway into triangles,
so that doesn't make such difference in rendering (granted, the middle
vertex does add one triangle...)
Maybe you have primitive substitution turned on in LDView? (edit ->
preferences -> primitives tab) That could explain...
no it was turned off.
Mmhhh... and what about automatic download from LDraw? (but you should
have found the file anyway...)
