Yes XbaeMatrix can handle that. examples/tests/chooser1.c shows this,
a screenshot is attached. The source line to add the arrow is 
        XbaeMatrixSetCellWidget(mw, 3, 4, arrow);

What would the adoption mean ? I personally don't have the time to take
up more widgets in what I maintain. From your question I assume that
you don't want to pick up the maintenance either...

be handled by XmForm as well. But use of Xbae is probably easier.
