That's a Debian question, I can't answer that.

configure.in:30: error: Autoconf version 2.59 or higher is required

This was set to 2.50 until very recently, but the 2005/03/26 commit changed that. I'll check, maybe this requirement is unneeded.

Makefile.am:10: required directory ./autopackage does not exist

Your CVS update must have failed. That directory is in CVS (but only recently). The update command I use picks up new directories too : cvs -z9 -q update -d -P

Danny

That fixed it, thanks. But I dont really understand: with *our* repository (also CVS-based), if I checkout a module, then create a subdirectory in it, create a file there, add it, commit, then go do an update in some other place where the module was already checked out, a plain cvs update will pick the subdirectory. Not with lesstif though. Strange...

Aie aie, not completely fixed:

Making all in autopackage
make[1]: Entering directory `/pktbes02/dsk3/people/michel/internet/lesstif-cvs/autopackage'
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `all'. Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/pktbes02/dsk3/people/michel/internet/lesstif-cvs/autopackage'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

This was after configure --enable-static --disable-shared
