Are your issues happening on a 64 bit platform? There are some 64 bit
related patches in fedora that may not be in cvs.

And yes, lesstif seems to me to be abandonware, but I guess that what
would be needed for a fork would be developpers. If you are willing to
do a fork, maybe you could instead ask the current maintainers for
commit rights.
