Let's start some discussion.
We have to face it : things have changed, and I am not sure if I care
whether this is a victory for us or not.
Some people have said that OpenMotif is not open enough. For the users
of some operating systems, that's clearly true. For the followers of
the true GNU philosophy as well. Maintaining and advancing LessTif
clearly makes sense for both those groups of people.
Another idea is to extend Motif, and help to create the drive to
advance the technology. Dusan writes this (see below), the texts on
MotifZone (www.motifzone.net) indicate that as well.
Xbae and Xlt are examples of this. Theme extensions for Motif,
making Motif interoperate with XDND (and thus drag-and-drop with
GNOME), reviving XmHTML, ...
I can live with a twofold strategy - creating two packages. One to
clone Motif, one to extend it.
If you feel like attacking these suggestions, or (much nicer :-) )
augment them, please feel free to do so. We NEED the discussion.
The core developers can't decide this for themselves, we need
your input ! Let's redefine our goals.
