Well, DDD had no problem with OSF/Motif and earlier LessTif versions;
so I assume it's a problem within LessTif.  As far as I can see,
the sequence of calls issued by DDD in order to highlight text
may well be unique, but by no means illegal.

I agree.  Unfortunately, Lesstif has now become the `official� M*tif
toolkit for DDD, and hence I must try to give users a working product.
This includes bug workarounds for ordinary users.

For debugging usage, DDD provides a `--lesstif-version=1000� option which
allows you to disable all Lesstif-related workarounds.  I do this with
every new LessTif release in order to find which workarounds can be
eliminated due to better OSF/Motif compatibility.
