What have this to do with source license for Motif?
When I say "play by the rules" I mean "follow the Xt specification and
don't make assumptions about the internal implementation". The _Xt*
functions are not part of the standard and there is not warranty about
their existence or not in a particular implementation or in future
versions. Using them, you walk on the cutting edge, in the same way that
using the undocumented _Xm* functions.
BTW, there is a standard method for testing X thread support using Imake
since <vendor>.cf should define "ThreadedX", "ThreadsLibraries" and other
useful macros. Unfortunately the auto* stuff seems to ignore this.
