The user should be allowed of course to resize the widgets as she
desires, hence the use of the XmPanedWindow manager.  I only wanted
to give the application a sensible startup look.

Yes, I know of that but these two constraints are useless for me here.

No, I don't want to stick with it, I'd just like to set it up that
way when the applicaton starts up.
