We (ICS - a fairly strong proponent of Motif ;-) ) also share your frustration that "New" by definition is somehow always equated to "better". Believe it or not, we would be willing to help out promoting lesstif successes (you may have noticed that we publish news of new releases of lesstif on the MotifZone). Our motives are fairly obvious, since we make our money selling development tools for Motif and lesstif, the more applications using Motif API the better!

We can help in proving press contacts outside of the traditional Linux media. Certainly the MotifZone would be available, but that is not going to expand the community.

In addition to trying to get the attention of the open source community, you might look for "success" stories that would be attractive to more traditional media. See the latest issue (April) of Linux Journal and look in the "Up Front" section. There, BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit - i.e., the San Francisco Bay subway system) replaced their Sun systems with Linux boxes to control the electrical grid of the subway. They looked at GTK & QT, rejected them and chose Motif. (A more detailed version of the article is at http://www.ics.com/bart )

We all know we're way too humble and we should advertise the virtue of
LessTif more, right ?

Right.
