Hi Paul, I doubt if U can do the "unlocking" yourself without some training. I advise U take ur phone to the nearest GSM repairman and have it unlocked. It should cost around 2 to 5k.
I recently bought a Sendo camphone (SV336, I think) with the Vodafone sticker on it and found out -like U- that GPRS was locked. It was very annoying.... no wonder the phone was "cheap".
