Hi, Vmobile has been trialing free GPRS for months now. The problem is the GPRS symbol does not show on a phone. This deceives a lot of people from registering and enjoying the service.
On my trip to Lagos last week, I cracked the case! What you need to do is send an SMS with the word "wapgprs" to 184 EVEN WHEN NO GPRS IS VISIBLE ON YOUR PHONE. The SMS is what activates your account for GPRS. You will receive several SMS from vmobile (I have received around 19 so far) all saying the same thing... "Welcome to Vmobile WAP etc..." After sometime, the GPRS symbol will appear on your phone. Next Problem: GPRS settings. ---------------------------- Unlike the other networks, Vmobile does not send any OTA (Over-the-air) GPRS settings so you will have to do it manually. To do that, visit this site: http://domainstandard.net/mobility/vmobiledatasettings.php There is some modification U need to do depending on your phone... which I will send later. Good luck! Vmobile WAP is still free and VERY FAST. It also has MMS but I have not tried it yet. It is available in Lagos and Abuja.
