Hello,

I'm not surprised by your experience.
That's the norm.

Your phone does not display the G symbol even if your
network is GPRS-enabled, unless you have your phone
number activated; in most cases.

It is rather unfortunate that Vmobile's GPRS settings
is lousy; in the sense that, they do not send any OTA
(Over-the-air) GPRS settings but rather want every
subscriber to set it manually.

I'm sure some folks would make money out of this.
Trust Nigerians!

When I arrived Ibadan one early Sunday morning in
July, I decided to buy a glo line so I could call my
friend to come for me at Iwo Road. Well, since I
wasn't familiar with any Nigerian network, (I'd been
away for long) I was confused on how to activate my
SIM. I asked the guy I bought it from, and imagine
what he told me? I should pay N100!

My father would turn in his grave if I should give
that money. Despite my education, how could I fall for
such a cheap gimmick?
Stubbornly, I attempted calling my friend just like
that and alas, there was the voice prompt which I
followed to activate my number in no time right in
this presence of this guy.

I was soon talking to my friend, and left him (the
seller) starring at me. I used my N100 for Sunday
Punch newspaper.
