At 11:43 AM -0400 8/3/07, Robert Burr sent email regarding bellsouth mail bouncing:
we have many dozens of lists on our LR server and collectively, thousands of bellsouth customers on those lists. All are bouncing in the last several weeks. The following response is generated.

550 ([PERMFAIL] bellsouth.net requires valid sender domain {need mx})

In most cases, we've been sending to these same accounts for years without problems. We have not made any changes here in a long time. If anyone else has seen these problems and found a cure, please pass it along.

I appreciate any helpful advice.

Have your clients with bellsouth contact the postmaster and call tech support. My server too started being rejected by bellsouth as soon as AT&T's server took over MX from bellsouth's servers. I tried writing to postmaster and abuse at ATT and they too were bounced. The I wrote to them via a Mac.com account. No acknowledgement.

Finally, I told my client, who has a domain on my server and a bellsouth account, to contact them herself. Problem was fixed the same days she called. If you have no clients with bellsouth, have your account holders who are trying to send to bellsouth contact their would-be recipients and ask them to complain to bellsouth.

I have still never gotten a response to my queries, even after I asked why I had been blocked (asked after the block was lifted).
