This leads me to the assumption that not LetterRip is producing a 
malformed message, but Apple Mail does. Can you check what software 
had been used for composing/sending the disappearing message or the 
message before the disappearing message? If either of the two is from 
Apple Mail, you should contact the authors and ask them to send the 
message to you privately for analysis. If the same error (as 
described by the Apple techs) occurs, it is pretty obvious that Apple 
Mail is faulty, not LetterRip.

Unfortunately, this much debugging is way more effort than the problem warrants.
It only bites one recipient of the digest (and it works fine for my subscription
to the digest).

Given that it's a low-volumen mailing list, I counseled him simply to subscribe
to the list itself. Thanks again.
