Sorry. That was indeed bad smoke. I forgot about glibc-2.4 in DIY.
This is OT here but for the record, DIY makes no attempt to backport Glibc's inotify support to Glibc-2.3.x because IMHO it is simply not required. Most inotify-aware applications I've come across don't absolutely require inotify support from Glibc. Any that do are broken IMHO.
I take this as "dovecot is broken", and my position still remains that simply installing the linux/inotify.h header is not useful.
