For the sake of stability, it is best to rebuild a lfs system from
scratch.  There are too many dependicies which could cause severe
problems downstream.  Espically glibc.  I just installed pam on a
running KDE lfs 6 sys and gee nobody said anything about the
consequences of this.  I could not log on (with KDE) - console was
fine.  I had to recompile KDE base to get it up again.   It's good to
have a huge drive with a number of lfs partitions to boot into in case
the latest LFS suffers a disaster.
