Cedric, All the other suggestions so far are good, and they're great things to play with if you are forced to use windoze and miss a unix-like feel... But I think running Linux distro in a virtual machine or emulator is probably overkill for the task you have at hand... If the only piece of the the jig-saw puzzle you are missing is sending mail, then google on the keywords "sendmail" "exe" "windows" and you should find quite a few little "sendmail.exe" programs which come nowhere near the power of UNIX sendmail, but should do the job you want.
