Hi,

does anyone know much about using cups?

I have just got a new printer with a network i/f on it. A Konica Minolta
2530DL.

I have a 2430DL which should be quite similar.

It came with a linux driver (RPM, which I have extracted) which I have
installed in the appropriate places. Actually as part of my problem
solving, I dl'd their latest driver and installed that. It is dated Sept
2006 so it's quite recent.

I don't think I needed to install anything on my Linux boxes (Debian
and Ubuntu). What I did was set it up to use the IPP protocol, but
that didn't work. (it does on That Other OS though)

The way I have it working is using the HP JetDirect protocol. That is
from GNOME's GUI, my CUPS admin page puts the uri at
socket://<ip_addr>:9100.

That's the only thing that's worked for me (I never looked at the
logs, but when I tried to use IPP it always told me the printer was
stopped).
