That sounds great! I bet there are other people out there who have old 
files that they would like to view also. Maybe even someone will take 
your work and extend it to convert to a Free schematic editor (e.g. kicad).

You should speak to a lawyer if you have legal concerns.

( If it is an entirely original work, and no one copied any source from 
the original program, then *I* would be confident enough to publish the 
work ... but that is just me. )

Rather than wait to show the world your new software until your build is 
good on all platforms, perhaps you could create a README which documents 
the known ways it works, the known ways it fails, and include a "help 
fixing this is encouraged" comment.

Perhaps if you push it to something like github or bitbucket then 
someone might be able to identify what is needed to make a smooth build 
for KDE systems.
