The directory name can be whatever you want, you just have to match it in the export command. But make the environment variable uppercase (LFS) like in the book so you can copy and paste the commands instead of typing them all in. And make sure there are no spaces on either side of the equal sign like in your original post. I recommend you re-read chapter 2.4 and do it exactly as in the book. export LFS=/mnt/lfs Paul
