Well, guess what ? I powered down so that I could reconnect via the
kvm and then think about starting to test the new box and put a
system on it - but with video and keyboard once again connected via
the kvm I again get an alarm.
I suppose that means the dodgy old kvm switch has failed - whatever,
looks like I'm a long way from getting the new box ready (I
eventually realised why I had not initially bought one like it a few
months ago: the case has plenty of space for drives, but the
motherboard only has 4 SATA sockets).
