Richard, I am not looking for an issue, nor have I a need to re-establish my authority. There is a problem that I've seen on some of the lists (I wouldn't quite call them flame wars but close) and it needs to be addressed. There is no reason to look for hidding motives here.
Why put it like this? Why make it seem like it's a big personal thing? I very much doubt that Jim or Bruce ever saw it that way.
