It is not more than the DESTDIR method. If packages are installed in DESTDIR, then there are some commands that need to be performed before and after the pkg is relocated to /. Otherwise, DESTDIR style won't work. BTW, I think a better name for the DESTDIR method is "install root" method. Similarly, if LFS mentions the uninstall procedure for each package, we would need to add commands that need to be performed before and after the files are removed. Of course this part is optional.
