I'm writing up grub2 for the book. The build is just a CMMI program, but I'll add a few extra switches to configure to not compile some developer only code.
I'm thinking about moving grub back to Chapter 6 and then changing the grub section in Chapter 8 to "Setting up the boot loader" to discuss actually installing grub into /boot and the MBR. My thought is that the importance and complexity of setting up the system to boot warrants its own section.
