I was somewhat disappointed that I didn't have to report this to them so
I didn't get to try the new Glibc community for size :-)  This is
upstream bug 13579
(http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=13579) and the
attached patch should fix it.  Would you mind giving it a try please?

I reinstalled glibc with your patch. Now speaker-test doesn't segfault. Even 
dosbox doesn't segfault anymore ;)
