Hello,
This has been a subject of discussion in the past. I would like to add
ld.gold to the next release of LFS. DJ originally suggested it to me,
and I mentioned it to Bruce privately, and I have now decided to bring
it to the list.
Next weekend, I plan to run through both a trunk and a systemd-based
build of LFS and all of BLFS with ld.gold and ld, and compare the
results and prepare a report of changes that have to be made. I will
also disprove / reinforce the findings of several groups that have
claimed that it is faster than ld.
Once I get this report finished, I will provide a link to it.
I haven't done much more research than this yet, as I have other things
to focus on in addition to this (Next weekend I can easily dedicate to
experimenting with this). DJ originally suggested it for systemd,
however upon talking with Bruce, I believe that this may be beneficial
for both. Having it in both would ease maintenance concerns as well.
