Long text short: a CD-book not a CD-image;-)
I like this idea and would volunteer on it. About a year ago I did a proof
of concept live system that runs from initramfs:
https://github.com/mschlenker/TinyCrossLinux This is the bare minimum to
understand how to build a bootable live system. With similarily simple
scripts (boot scripts are BSD style) and SquashFS on CD the only
additional packages needed for a LFS live system are syslinux and busybox.
With busybox it is also possible to drop the user to an environment with
all tools needed for debugging, driver loading etc (one might even add
dropbear to be able to scp files).
What I really would like is a hint so users can build their own iso and
put it on either a usb stick or dvd.
Is that what you are volunteering for?
