I have no problems with what you did, or why, but that's what I was told
(at least wrt LFS). Personally, I'd rather see *all* patches we use for
the book apply absolutely cleanly without any offsets or fuzz. I realize
that the motive for not doing that is the extra work involved, but on the
other hand, it does provide a bit more quality assurance.
