Amen! My daughter was using two 256MB sticks on her Winduhs machine for months and I thought the occasional lockups were just Windows being Windows, but when I tried to install Linux (several popular distros... Ubuntu, Knoppix, SUSE, Gentoo) it kept crashing. A quick RAM test revealed several errors on both sticks... but of course Linux was using all available RAM more efficiently and aggressively, so it encountered the errors much sooner. -- Peter B.
