Never underestimate the level of weirdness that can happen when a stick
of RAM goes bad. ;) The person who has physical access pulled out 2 1GB
sticks and put in a known good 512 MB stick and so far so good. If lfs
builds to completion, then I will retry the build with each of the 2
sticks separately, but it looks like this mystery is solved.
