Actually it cruises along pretty well until it gets to "Starting Init...."
where it hangs.
leading up to that are these lines:

That's bad news - the k6-2 is an i586, it sounds suspiciously as if the
Live CD has init (at least) built for i686. I find that hard to
believe, but accidents do happen - maybe ask on the Live CD list unless
anybody from there is watching this thread.
